Greenhouse gardening: the cure for cabin fever

It's the dead of winter and you are going stir crazy. Looking out of your window you can see where your garden should be. It looks so cold an barren under all of that snow, you can hardly wait for spring to bring it to life once more, but that seems so far away. You could get started right now, today, in fact! All you need is a greenhouse and your craving for lush, green, growing plants can be satisfied immediately.
Weather you have a green thumb to rival lady spring herself or you just want to a rewarding family garden; a greenhouse is the way to go. Even if you haven't the time or the inclination to build it yourself. There are a host of pre made kits available in every imaginable size and configuration. They are quick and easy to assemble with detailed instructions that will make them nearly as fun and rewarding to build as gardening itself. Best of all; they can be delivered directly to the site of your new greenhouse.

In these tough times so many people are looking for a way to make their money go further. Growing the majority of your family's food can save you a great deal of money in the short as well as long term. The only problem with this is that starter plants can be almost as expensive as the produce in the grocery store. Seeds however, are not expensive at all. You can usually find packets of seeds for pennies on the dollar when compared to the cost of starters plants. You can start your own plants well before spring and have them ready to transplant into your garden as soon as the weather permits.
Growing seasons can be very short in many areas, the further from the equator you get, the less time you have to garden. The easiest solution is to extend the season by starting your plants in a greenhouse. In this way you can maximize the produce your garden will yield or even grow things that would otherwise be impossible in your climate. Why stop with just produce? Maybe you'd like to try your hand at growing something really exotic, perhaps even tropical. That can only happen if you have a space where you can manipulate the climate to recreate very specific and delicate conditions. You could heat a greenhouse to match the depths of the Amazon.
Climate control is one area where a little imagination and forethought will go a long way. Electric heaters would certainly work, but they are expensive to run and may become dangerous if not properly cared for. However, if you place your greenhouse in a sunny location you can utilize solar energy for free. You could even keep a compost bin, or two inside to generate heat at night, while your kitchen scraps are recycled into useful nutrients for your plants.

A backyard greenhouse can be your very own instant garden. Just add water, and seeds. In no time at all, your investment will pay for itself.
