I have a 6 X 5 greenhouse, and live in NJ. What is the cost difference? I'm keeping the temp at 55 at night and 70-80 during the day. Would it be worth it for me to get a gas heater if I use it just for spring planting? How much of a difference in electric bill w/ heater kept at low?
Locally, natural gas is considerably less expensive than electric heat so I'd say yes, a gas heater would be the best way to go but our local natural gas prices will probably increase as energy costs increase so I'd suggest checking with your local gas company and your electrical company to compare those prices.
Overall gas would be less expensive to operate, but I would think a gas unit heater that includes vent pipe to properly vent combustion gases is going to cost over $450. Plus cost of gas line/tank etc. I would think you could purchase a electric heater for $100-150. It is going to take several years maybe 7 to payback. Payback would depend on covering material of greenhouse. Corrugated fiberglass/polycarbonate has the highest heat loss. Glass is next. Double poly is Good and Polycarbonate is slightly better than Double Poly.
Hi guys, I am brand-new to the site, but I've been looking for this forum for a very long time 'n I am so happy I finally got here.
I'm 23 years old and doing my masters at Houston.
I am the kind of hombre who loves to taste original things. Right now I'm manufacturing my hold pv panels. I'm managing it all alone without the aid of my men. I am using the internet as the only way to acheive this. I encountered a very awesome website that explains how to contruct photovoltaic panels and wind generators. The website explains all the steps involved in pv panel contruction.
I am not exactly sure about how precise the data given there is. If some guys over here who have experience with these things can have a peak and give your feedback in the thread it will be great and I would extremely treasure it.
